Spooky Fun with Simon Hurley & Spellbinders

Hello crafty friends!

Today I’m sharing a couple of spooky sweet cards featuring two new die sets from the Halloween Hugs Collection from Simon Hurley and  Spellbinders. Meet the Frank Etched Dies and Sir Skeleton Etched Dies! These characters have so much personality and are perfect for Halloween card crafting.

Card One – Frank Etched Dies

For my first card, I created a starry night-sky background for Frank.

I started with an A2 panel of Raven Cardstock and used the Falling Stars BetterPress Plate with gold foil to create my sky.  Next, I used the Landscape Etched Dies to create grass for my graveyard.  Then, of course, it was time for Frank! I die cut all of the pieces from the Frank Etched Dies and assembled this handsome fellow along with his gravestone before adding him to the scene.

He’s spooky, he’s quirky, and I think he looks right at home beneath those nighttime stars!

Card 2 – Sir Skeleton Etched Dies

For card number two, Sir Skeleton takes center stage.

This time I went with a bold graphic background using the Stripe Right Etched Dies. The stripes are such a fun way to add movement and interest to a card, and they make a great backdrop for a character all in bone like Sir Skeleton.

I die cut and assembled all of the pieces from the Sir Skeleton Etched Dies, then positioned him over the striped background.  I used a gradient starting with Lilac on the bottom, moving to Mulberry, Orchid, Carrot, and Saffron.  I used the Orchid for his bowtie and hat-band and a little black glitter paper for his hat.

There are two additional fun characters in this collection including Drac and the Wickedly Sweet set.  Make sure to head to Spellbinders to check out all of the Halloween cuteness.

Thanks so much for stopping by .

Happy crafting!
