Hi everyone! If you arrived at my blog from Facebook, thank you! I am so excited to be this weekend’s host for the Altenew Fan Group Takeover and to sponsor a Monochromatic Card Challenge. This post provides the details on how I made my Anemone Blue Poppy card, in orange versus blue, and hopefully it will inspire you to try your own monochromatic design and enter my challenge.

Altenew Products Used:
- Anemone Blue Poppy Layering Die Set
- Itty Bitty Branches Die
- Chocolate Flowers Stamp Set
- Lemonade Stand Cardstock
- Caramel Toffee Cardstock
- Warm Sunshine Cardstock
- Paper Bag Cardstock
- Bronze Pigment Ink
- Golden Sunset Fresh Dye Ink Collection
- Paper Bag Fresh Dye Ink
- Caramel Toffee Fresh Dye Ink
To kick off my card design I had to first pick the color I wanted to feature. I have been in love with bold oranges lately and I absolutely love the color of the Lemonade Stand cardstock so that became my starting point and the base panel for my A2 card.

Next, I die-cut my Anemone Blue Poppy blooms from 80lb white cardstock. I use 80lb cardstock for ink-blending because the paper takes the ink beautifully and you can also easily curl the petals without getting creases in the paper. I used my Golden Sunset Ink Collection to color my petals starting with the lightest color for the overall petal and concentrating the darker colors towards the center to create the illusion of depth. For the flower centers I used Paper Bag cardstock I darkened with Paper Bag Ink as well as Warm Sunshine cardstock for the centers. I then assembled my blooms using the assembly guide on the packaging, curling the petals with my pick-up tool and adding foam tape between layers for added dimension.
Now it was time for the leaves.

The leaves I cut from Caramel Toffee cardstock. To add dimension and a little shimmer, I also added Caramel Toffee Ink and Bronze Pigment Ink as shown. Forgive the image of my Stampwheel. This much beloved tool is what I use for my ink-blending. I do have a second one for stamping!
After my leaves were complete, I cut some greenery using the Itty Bitty Branches die set from brushed gold cardstock in my stash. Note: Metallics don’t count in a monochromatic card. These are my rules and I am sticking by them!

I then assembled my card as shown, first adding a little more Caramel Toffee ink to my Lemonade Stand cardstock background panel and some brown splatter using watercolor. I finished everything off with a stamped sentiment from the Chocolate Flowers Stamp Set.
I hope you are now ready to try your own monochromatic card. Make sure to post your card to the Altenew Fan Group on Facebook by 11:59PM ET on June 18th and tag me, Samantha Pfrimmer. I will announce the winner of a $15 Altenew gift card on Friday. June 19th.
Thanks, everyone!
