Hi crafty friends!
I’m so excited to be sharing a card featuring the beautiful new Peony Corners stamp set from the Alex Syberia Designs Summer Whimsy Collection! This floral image is absolutely gorgeous, and I wanted to let it be the star of the show by creating a one-layer card design highlighting the selected image.
For today’s card, I started by stamping the large floral image directly onto my OLO Blending Card panel using Memento Tuxedo black ink. To protect the flowers while creating the background, I cut a mask for the stamped image and covered it completely. I also masked off a narrow border around the edge of the panel to create a clean framed design.
With everything masked, I blended several shades from the Altenew Blue Mountains Fresh Dye Ink collection over the exposed background. The rich blue creates a dramatic backdrop that makes the floral image pop while still keeping the overall design clean and elegant.
Once the ink blending was finished, I carefully removed all of the masks so I could begin coloring my image. Using my Copic markers I chose a palette of blues and yellows to complement the ink blended background. The cool blue petals paired with warm yellow accents create a fresh, cheerful color combination while keeping the design cohesive.
To finish the card, I added a subtle decorative touch using a frame from the Nested Scalloped Frames Die Set. The delicate pierced detail beautifully frames the one-layer design without overwhelming it. Finally, I stamped one of the lovely sentiments from the Peony Corners stamp set to complete the card.
I love how this card combines the simplicity of a one-layer design with the impact of bold ink blending and vibrant Copic coloring. It’s a great reminder that you don’t need lots of layers to create something eye-catching!
