Simon Says Stamp Rain or shine blog Hop

Hello everyone! Welcome to Day 2 of the Simon Says Stamp Rain or Shine Release Blog Hop. I am so very excited to be invited as a participant and this release is just the absolute cutest. Don’t forget to hop along and leave a comment at each stop for a chance to win a $25 gift card. Also make sure you visit all of the Day 1 blog posts so you can see more incredible inspiration and for additional chances to win!

This release is filled with so many amazing products including the adorable Farm Life Clear Stamp Set I am featuring today. I love a good one-layer card and I love a slimline and since this card features so many adorable images I decided I would do both and create an extended Farm Life scene.

To create one-layer cards, I always start by stamping all of my images first onto Gina K Masking Magic Masking Paper in a light grey ink. Once stamped, I fussy-cut all of my masks and then I use the masks to design my layout. I find it easier to see what my final design will look like with the masks versus just moving around the individual stamps.

Once I determined my layout, I carefully stamped out my scene onto Copic Xpress-It Blending Card, placing my masks down layer by layer. After I was done stamping my images and my masks were all placed, I took my Drifts and Hills Stencil from My Favorite Things and a black fine-liner pen and drew out a hillside before ink blending a sky using Distress Oxide Squeezed Lemonade and Distress Oxide Tumbled Glass.
Now time to color.

I removed all of the masks and got to work with my Copic markers. I tend to color my critters first before tackling the barn and the grass. After my coloring was complete, I stamped and cut out a sentiment, added a dark red mat to the card panel, and adhered it to a 8.5” x 3.5” folding cardcase.

To finish everything off I applied a little red heart to my sentiment using die-cuts from the Simon Says Stamp Mini Hearts Set Wafer Dies. This die has little hearts of multiple shapes and sizes and is perfect for creating your own embellishments. I always keep a bunch on hand in various cardstock colors.

I hope you like my card. Listed below is the list of all participants in the hop. Make sure to visit and share the love!

  4. I am so impressed with all the work that goes into a masking magic layered card. I can never decide who goes where until after I’ve already put it together (poor visual memory, I guess)

    1. There are lots of tricks for that… you can tape your masks to scrap cardstock and photocopy it.., or just use it as a template to line up your stamps… or you can stamp on scrap without the masks to use as a template.
