CARD INSTRUCTIONS

I am no expert at mixed media but I am definitely a crafter who likes to try different things and I was so inspired by the new Simon Says Stamp Curled Fern Frond Die Set and the Thank You Text Clear Stamp from the new Moments in Time release, I knew I had to give it a go.

To start, I cut several Fern Frond die cuts from Kraft cardstock.  Next, I pulled out my Distress Mica Stain Sprays and sprayed each die cut.   I actually don’t know what colors, I used just trying shades and green, blues, and metallics.  I set my die cuts aside to dry and got to work on my background.

For my background, cut an A2 panel out of 110lb cardstock and I scored all 4 sides of the panel, 1/8per side.  These score lines provided a guide for me to tear off the edges of the paper giving a rough rustic look without having to rely on dies.  Next using an acrylic block, ink smooshed a gradient using brown, green, and teal die inks.   Once my inky background was dry, I then used my Thank You Text Clear Stamp to stamp text, using me same ink colors, directly onto the panel.

Next, I arranged my Fern Fronds onto the panel and added a sentiment strip using my With Thanks Clear Stamp set.   Once I had my sentiment added, I realized a little something else was needed so I cut a few tiny flower die cuts using dies from the Hanging Leaf Ring Die and added some gold pearl centers from my stash.

I then attached my panel to a A2 folding card-base and my thank you card was complete.

TAG INSTRUCTIONS

Since I had some extra Fern Fronds from my card project, I decided not to let them go to waste and created a cute tag.

I grabbed some ivory cardstock from my stash and I cut a strip 5.5” x 2.5” using a paper trimmer.   I then grabbed my Spellbinders 3-in-1 Tag Punch and cut a large sized tag.  Using my Thank You Text stamp, I stamped the entire tag in Distress Ground Espresso ink, before ink-blending the edges of the tag with more Ground Espresso ink.

I decided my tag needed a reinforcer so I grabbed the reinforcer die from my Tim Holtz Sizzix Vault Noteworthy Thinlits Dies and cut a reinforcer for the front and back of the tag in brushed antique gold cardstock.   I also cut some small butterflies from the  Tim Holtz Sizzix Vault Boutique Thinlits Dies to use as embellishments for my Fern Frond

Once everything was arranged and adhered to the tag, I added a small sentiment strip from my stash of Simon Says Stamp Reverse Sentiment Strips and some brown ribbon from my stash.

Now I have both a card and gift tag to use with a  thank you gift for friend!

Love the tag and card front! (I never would have thought to score the outline in order to use as a tear line! Brilliant!!) That fern die is in my cart right now!!

  7. Beautiful card and tag !! Love the rustic, vintage look. The fern fronds are fantastic and thanks for the scoring tip for distressing the card edges. Thanks for sharing and inspiring.
