Today I am sharing two new cards featuring the July Kit of the Month from La La Land Crafts. The kit has so many great products including the Tropical Paradise Marci and adorable cat rubber stamps, 5 sentiment stamps, and many dies.
CARD 1
For my first card, I featured Marci and the Boy Kitty in a scene featuring beautiful tropical plants. I started the card by stamping and coloring the images using the following Copic colors.
Cat Nose: W7-W9, Cat Body: YR18-YR27-YR24-Y35, Cat Eyes: G43, Cat Necklace: W5, Cat Skirt: N1-N2, Torch: E42-E43-E44-YR09-YR07-Y38-Y35
Marci Hair: E29-E19-E99-E97, Marci Skin: E11-E21-E30, Marci Eyes: G43-White Gel Pen, Marci Dress: N1-N2, Marci Sandals: G99-G94-E29, Marci Flower: YR09-YR07-YR38
What is most unique about this card is Marci’s dress and her cat’s matching skirt. Instead of just coloring in their clothing, I decided to use paper piecing. I stamped both images onto a sheet of patterned paper from the Note to Self Paper Pack and then added shadows using my N1 and N2 Copics. I fussy cut the clothing out from the pattern paper images and carefully glued them to the stamped and colored images.

I then created a backdrop using the Tropical Leaves and Leafy Vine dies along with a Plumeria Flower and the cutest ever Tiki Torch created using the dies from the kit. The flower and the greenery were all colored using Distress Oxide inks and ink blending.

The entire project was then adhered to a background created using more pattered paper from the Note to Self Paper Pack and completed with a sentiment stamped on a label using the Scalloped Sentiment Labels die set.

CARD 2
For my second card I chose to feature Tropical Paradise Marci walking alone on the beach at sunset. I first started off stamping my Marci image and coloring her in the following Copic colors.
Marci Hair: E15-Y24-YR31, Marci Skin: E11-E21-E30, Marci Eyes: BG01-White Gel Pen, Marci Dress: BV20-BG34-BG32-BG11, Marci Sandals: E15-RV02-RV00, Flower: Y17-Y13-RV04-RV02-RV00
I then got to work creating my beach scene. This process involved a great deal of masking and ink blending with Distress Oxide inks. I started by masking off the bottom half of the paper and then set about creating my sunset sky. Once dry, I masked off my sunset and then masked off the bottom quarter of the paper to then create the ocean. Lastly, I masked off the ocean leaving the bottom quarter of the paper to ink blend the beach. I added some dark brown watercolor splatters and some white splatters using white acrylic paint, and s few white splatters were also added to the ocean. To create the white surf between the beach and the ocean I used white Nuvo Drops to build up texture.
Once the ink blending was done, I then used several die cuts to complete my scene. I took apart the sun, water reflection and, the island from the Tropical Sunset Circle die included in the kit, I colored each piece, and then added them to the background. I also used the Plumeria die to create flowers and leaves to adorn the bottom of the card. After fussy cutting Marci and adding her to the beach with foam tape, I finished the card by creating a frame with pattern paper from the Note to Self Paper Pack and a sentiment stamped on a Scalloped Sentiment Label.
