ALTENEW JUNE RELEASE – CRAFT-A-GARDEN PRAIRIE ROSE

Hello everyone! I am so excited to share a pretty card made using products from the new Altenew June release available now at the shop.    Listed below are all of the  supplies used along with the crafting details.

CARD INSTRUCTIONS

To begin this card, I die cut all of my elements from the Craft-A-Flower Prairie Rose Die Set from 80lb smooth white cardstock.   I find 80lb cardstock to be the best for both ink  blending and for curling the tips of die cuts.

Once my die cuts were complete, I grabbed the inks from my Bubble Gum Dreams Fresh Die Ink Collection and my Mini Blending Brushes and I got to work.  I started with my lightest color, Baby Pink, and focused my blending on just the flower centers and the petal tips.  Next, I moved on to the Fuschia and then the Magenta in the centers to create a soft gradient of color.

Monochromatic cards can be really dramatic, so I decided to also do my accompanying leaves in pinks.   I ink-blended all of the leaves in Fuchsia, and then I added darker details with my final color, Jazzberry.  For my flower centers I did want a little contrast, so I used both  light and dark brushed gold cardstocks from my stash.

I do want to point out how excited I am to share the new Crafter’s Showcase Mini Blending Brush Storage.  I am so grateful to Altenew for gifting me this wonderful storage tool.  I am such a huge fan of the their Mini Blending Brushes, and now I can keep them all in one stylish and easy-to-use, storage container.   You have to get one!

Once all of my die-cuts were complete, I assembled my blooms using the Layering Guide on the back of the packaging by matching up the clever key-hole designs on each of the die cuts.   Before adhering each layer, I used my pick-up tool to curl the tips of all of the petals for added movement and dimension.

To finish of my card, I cut a panel 3.75” x 5” from pink cardstock, and using my Magenta ink, I lightly blended a darker shadow area where I planned to arrange my blooms along with a little white splatter using white acrylic paint.   Next, I adhered my blooms and leaves using both thick and thin foam tape to add dimension.   The final touch was a “Hugs” sentiment cut from the Stylish Greetings Die Set, a wonderful product from last years Cozy Comfort Retreat, and a few gold embellishments from my stash.  All that was left was to glue my design onto an A2 folding card-base, and my card was complete.

I hope you like it!  Thanks for reading!
