Hello everyone! It’s release day for the July Altenew release. There are so many amazing products available this month and to kick things off, I am featuring a an encouragement card using the new Craft a Flower: Larkspur Layering Die Set.

Background:
The Larkspur Layering Die is a large set and works best with an A7 size. To create the background, I decided to keep things pretty clean and simple so I started with a light aqua cardstock from my stash and I cut it to a 4.25” x 6.25” size to then be glued to a folding white A7-sized card-base.
Larkspur Layering Die:
I die-cut all of my pieces from the layering die set from 80lb white cardstock. I then ink-blended all of my flower petals using inks from the Altenew Red Sunset Fresh Dye Ink collection and all of my stems and leaves from the Jade Dreams collection. Once my ink-blending was dry, I assembled the Larkspur using the layering guide found on the back of the packaging.
Butterfly:
Butterflies are always a lovely embellishment for floral designs and this card is no exception. Using the Craft Your Life Project Kit: Butterfly Garden set, I first die-cut my butterflies from 80lb white cardstock, and then using the accompanying stencils, I stenciled my green butterfly using inks from the Whispering Woodland and Green Fields collections. To finish everything off, I added a few gold dots to the wings using my Altenew Must Have Gel Pen in Gold.
Assembly:
After attaching my aqua card panel to the card-base adding an extra panel of white scrap cardstock to the back for dimension, I then adhered my Larkspur to the panel using both thick and thin foam tape to pop up the petals. Once complete, I added a little white splatter using acrylic paint from my stash before adhering my butterfly with foam tape. All that was left was to stamp and add a sentiment and a few gold pearls from my stash, and my pretty card was complete.
