ALTENEW SEPTEMBER RELEASE AND BLOG HOP

Hello everyone! I am excited to share another fall card featuring products from the new Altenew September Release. For this card, I am featuring the new Weathered Bark 3D Embossing Folder, paired with one of my older Altenew favorites, the Craft Your Life Project Kit: Chocolate Flowers.   I absolutely love creating fall cards, so I pulled out several of my favorite Fresh Dye Ink Collections and combined lots of rich oranges, greens, and burgundy tones to create this dramatic floral card.

Listed below are all of the supplies used along with the crafting details.

CARD INSTRUCTIONS

To begin my card, I started with the background. I cut an A2 panel from Grapevine Cardstock and ran it through my die-cutting machine using the new Weathered Bark 3D Embossing Folder.

This embossing folder creates such an amazing amount of texture! I really wanted to emphasize all of those raised details, so I used Grapevine Fresh Dye Ink to add some darker shading to the embossed panel. I concentrated the ink over portions of the raised design, allowing some of the original cardstock color to remain visible.  I also trimmed ½” from the width of my panel before gluing it to a white A2 card base.  I wanted a bit of white to frame the edges.

Next, I moved onto my flowers…

For my focal point, I pulled out the beautiful Craft Your Life Project Kit: Chocolate Flowers. This is an older Altenew product, but one of my all-time favorites. I thought a fall floral spray would look amazing against all of the texture from the Weathered Bark background.

I die-cut my floral elements from smooth white cardstock and then pulled out several Fresh Dye Ink Collections to create my fall color palette.  For the flowers, I used a combination of colors from the new Vintage Study Fresh Dye Ink Collection along with the Warm and Cozy Fresh Dye Ink Collection. I blended the different colors across my petals, concentrating the darker shades toward the flower centers to create additional depth.  For my leaves, I used the Whispering Woodland Fresh Dye Ink Collection.

Now for assembly…

Once all of my ink blending was complete, I assembled the flowers and leaves following the layering guide. Before adhering everything together, I used my pick-up tool to gently curl the edges of the petals and leaves to create additional movement and dimension.  To finish everything off, I arranged my flowers and leaves over the embossed Grapevine panel, layering the different elements until I was happy with the arrangement. I adhered some pieces directly to the background and used foam tape behind others to create different heights throughout the floral cluster.

I really love how all of the colors and textures came together on this card! The deep Grapevine background makes those warm fall flowers pop, and the new Weathered Bark 3D Embossing Folder adds so much beautiful texture without taking anything away from the floral arrangement.

I hope this project has inspired you to check out the full September release at Altenew and to also follow along on the Blog Hop for inspiration and a chance to win.
