CARD INSTRUCTIONS
Card 1
To begin these cards, I first started with my background panels. I love the brightness of orange flowers and I knew I wanted to use the Tropical Tango Fresh Dye Inks, so I selected the Mandarin Burst color along with the Pistachio and Misty Sage colors from the Jade Dreams collection to use for a little ink smooshing.

For this technique, I cut a panel of Strathmore Bristol paper 3.25” x 4.5” because I knew it could hold its shape against the extra water needed for ink smooshing. To actually do the smooshing, I used an acrylic block patted down with a little ink from the pad, and then sprayed with a light misting of water. I then tapped the block around the areas of the paper where I wanted to concentrate the color, in this case the lower left of my panel, alternating colors to create movement and interest. Once dry, I took Gold Pearl paint from my Metallic Watercolor 14 Pan Set and splattered across the surface.
I set my panel aside to fully dry and moved on to die cutting petals and leaves for 3 Cute Open Rose flowers using 80lb white cardstock. For my flower centers I used both dark and light brushed gold cardstock from my stash. Now it was time for ink-blending. I decided I wanted 3 shades of orange for each of my flowers so I used my two lightest inks from the Tropical Tango set for the first flower, my middle two colors for the second, and the darkest two shades for the third. When ink-blending I usually concentrate the darker color towards the flower center to create depth.
Once my petals were complete, I moved onto my leaves, using the Jade Dreams Fresh Dye Ink Collection. I concentrated my darkest color for the Itty Bitty leaves and a blend of the three lighter colors for the rose leaves.
Now for assembly…
Using my pick-up tool, I curled the edges of all of my leaves and petals before assembly to create added dimension. Then I assembled each rose using the keyhole system and the layering guide provided with the packaging. Between some of the layers, I also added foam tape to create greater lift and movement with my petals.
To finish everything off, I mounted my ink-smooshed panel to an A2 folding white card-base before arranging my flowers and leaves as shown. I cut a “For You” sentiment from the Stencil Art: Strong Oak Add-On Die from dark, brushed-gold cardstock and now my pretty card was complete!
Card 2
For my second panel, I decided I wanted a cleaner look but following the same design as the first card, so I decided to ink-blend a gradient background using my Jade Dreams Fresh Dye Inks. I started with the lightest Pistachio color ink blending from the Top right down towards the center. I then moved to my darker colors concentrating the darkest Green Opal at the top. As with the first card, I finished everything off with some Gold Pearl splatter.

As with the first card, I completed all of my die cuts, only this time I went for my Delectable Delights Fresh Dye Inks. This may be one of my all time favorite ink collections. The colors are so rich and elegant and perfect for these flowers.
Once everything was cut, colored, and assembled as with the first card, I completed my layout changing the orientation of the flowers keeping them at the upper right. To finish everything off with I added a “Hugs” sentiment cut using the die from the Creative Cuts: Houseplants Layering Die Set and a few gold embellishments from my stash.
I really love how these two cards came out and I hope you like them too! Please let me know when one you prefer and thanks for reading!

Thank you, thank you for the instructions for putting together the card. I especially liked the ink ‘smooshing’ technique.
