Hi everyone! I am so excited to be the guest designer for the Poppy Stamps August Monthly Challenge. Poppy has the cutest dies!
This month’s challenge is “Anything Goes” and so I decided to kick things off with my first Fall card of the year.
I immediately fell in love with the Whittle Wood Picture Frames craft die so I decided I would take my card in a Clean and Simple (CAS) direction with the frame as my focal point. To start, I grabbed a sheet of paper from the Woodgrain Paper Pack in cream and cut a panel with my paper trimmer to 3.75” x 5.” Next, I die cut a few Whittle Wood Frames from dark brown cardstock and stacked them together for added dimension. To add further interest to my scene, I grabbed a piece of Pattern Paper from the Memory Box Anemone Grove 6×6 Paper Pack to add to the back of my frame. Once complete, I used Distress Oxide Gathered Twigs Ink to add a soft ink blended shadow behind the frame before moving on to create my next elements.
I grabbed my Whittle Snails craft die and die cut the larger snail from the set out of olive and sage green cardstocks. I added a small amount of Distress Oxide Bundled Sage to the snail body to create depth before assembling with craft glue. Next I moved onto die cuts using the Mushrooms and Toadstools craft die. Using both a sand and red colored cardstock, I die cut all of my mushroom elements before adding in some shading. For the mushroom caps, I added Distress Oxide Aged Mahogony and for the stems I used my Copic markers, choosing E42, E41, and E40. I then assembled all of the mushrooms and added little dots to the caps with white gel pen.
Once I had laid out my elements, I decided I needed to add in a little more green. I looked through my stash and I came across the Delightful Daisy craft die and determined the leaves from the stems would be the perfect touch. I cut a few daisies from white cardstock, ink-blended the leaves in Distress Oxide Mowed Lawn and Rustic Wilderness, before snipping them off with my craft scissors.
Pro Tip: Never be afraid to snip your dies cuts. This is a great way to not only extend the use of your stash, but it allows you to create fresh new looks with your dies.
Now that all of my elements were complete, I arranged them on my card panel before adhering with glue and both thick and thin foam squares. For my sentiment I made a few die cuts using the Hello Poe Script craft die in the same dark brown cardstock as my Whittle Wood Frame before gluing my card to an A2 sized card base cut from olive green cardstock.
My card is now complete and so super cute!
